Upgrade your infotainment experience with a complete MIB2 retrofit kit designed for 2015 to 2021 VW models. Choose your preferred head unit, display, and trim combination for a clean OEM-style setup that looks and feels factory.
Why this upgrade is so popular
This is one of the best OEM+ upgrades you can do to a MK7. Depending on your current setup, this retrofit can add a larger display, Apple CarPlay / Android Auto, factory navigation, faster performance, and a much more modern interior feel without giving up factory integration.
Quick Vehicle Check
2015 cars started with MIB1 and a 5.8" display
2016 to 2017 cars usually already have MIB2 in either Composition Media or Discover Media form
2018 to 2021 cars with no glovebox brain unit will need a relocation harness, extended USB harness, and inner glovebox assembly for Discover Pro conversions
Not sure what your car has? Send us your VIN and a photo of your current screen and glovebox
The Discover Pro (Harman MIB2) is not compatible with 2015 vehicles equipped with Fender audio.
Those vehicles use an earlier MIB1-based Fender amplifier that cannot communicate correctly with the Discover Pro unit, which results in no sound.
2015 + Fender + Discover Pro: Not compatible
2015 + non-Fender + Discover Pro: Compatible
2016+ + Fender + Discover Pro: Compatible
2015 + Fender: Choose Discover Media (Delphi MIB2) instead

2015 Models
2015 vehicles came with MIB1 and a 5.8" screen. This kit upgrades you to MIB2, giving you a faster system, newer interface, and full Apple CarPlay / Android Auto capability when paired with the correct USB wiring.
If your 2015 has Fender audio, select Discover Media. Do not select Discover Pro unless you are also converting to a MIB2-compatible amplifier setup.
These vehicles already came with MIB2 in either Discover Media or Composition Media form. This kit is ideal if you want to:
Replace a faulty factory unit
Upgrade from Composition Media to Discover Media for OEM navigation
Upgrade to Discover Pro for a faster processor and higher-end interface
2018 to 2021 Models with Glovebox Brain Unit
If you already have a disc drive / brain unit in the glovebox, your car already uses a glovebox-based system. This kit is ideal for replacing a faulty unit or upgrading to Discover Pro.
2018 to 2021 Models without Glovebox Brain Unit
If your glovebox does not have a brain unit, your vehicle has the Composition Color setup. To convert to Discover Pro, you will also need:
Pre-programmed MIB2 head unit based on your selected option
Your selected screen (6.5" or 8" glass-style display)
Trim panel when an 8" trim finish is selected
Center vent is not included unless the $75 vent add-on is selected through the option builder
North American firmware preloaded and configured to your VIN
Head Unit Options
Discover Media (Delphi MIB2): A great OEM-style upgrade that supports navigation, SiriusXM, and HD Radio. This is the correct choice for 2015 Fender audio vehicles.
Discover Pro (Harman MIB2): Faster processor and premium interface with internal map storage. SiriusXM and HD Radio are not supported. Best suited for customers who want the higher-end setup and have a compatible vehicle.
Display Options
6.5" Display: Factory-style MIB2 screen that works with your original MIB1 5.8" trim.
8" Glass Display: Edge-to-edge capacitive display that requires the matching 8" trim option.
Trim Options (For 8" Glass Display Setups)
Gloss Black
Brushed Aluminum
Polar Night (Dark Metallic Gray)
Note: If you select the 6.5" display, no trim is required and none will be included. Your original MIB1 5.8" trim will fit correctly.
Installation & Programming
All units are prepared to your VIN before shipping
TPMS, drive modes, and backup camera functions are typically retained when the car is configured correctly
On unlocked units, scan tools may still show soft component protection faults. This is normal
If the actual screen does not display Component Protection Active, there is no active CP lockout
On 2015 Fender vehicles, no-sound issues with Discover Pro are caused by amp communication incompatibility, not component protection
If you have a 2015 VW, this upgrades your MIB1 system to MIB2 — faster performance, larger screen, and CarPlay support.
2016–2021 models already have MIB2, but this kit is ideal if your unit is failing or you want to upgrade to the faster Discover Pro with internal GPS and an 8" glass display.
Select your head unit (Media or Pro), then pick a 6.5" or 8" glass display. 6.5" display uses your original MIB1 5.8" trim. 8" glass displays include new trim with the vent pre-installed.
All kits are pre-programmed to your VIN. Fender audio requires one quick coding change after install.

Customer Reviews
Overall rating: 4.9 / 5 from 16 reviews.
Fit and finish is beautiful! The color is slightly off from factory but I’m going to be wrapping it anyway. Super easy install it took less that an hour with the units and a usb swap. Definitely worth the wait. Would recommend to everyone.
Really easy install. Straight forward. I have 2015 golf r so I had to “modify” two of the connectors but overall easy. Took like 10 minutes to install screen and module. Great product. Looks a lot better than the original screen.
Easy and fast service!!! Install was pretty easy, the longest part was removing old glove box and installing new one. Besides that is was all plug and play. Make the car look and feel a whole lot better!!
10/10 product and customer support!! This was an expensive purchase for me, but the customer support from EZT and the end result absolutely make it worth it!
I upgraded my 2015 TDI with Fender Audio so I could use Apple Car Play and stop squinting at my phone for music and directions. I am 100% not a 'car person’ and was very nervous to touch anything other than the fuel knob for the first time.
The tools, packaging, printed instructions, and video are all very well done. When I had a clarifying question before and after purchasing, the customer support team (shoutout Bill!) was incredible. I’m in the software support industry and I really can’t say enough good things about how they treat their customers before, during, and after the sale.
The upgraded unit is a huge difference with navigation and quality of life. My girlfriend also no longer white-knuckles the passenger door when I look down at my phone which is nice. Thank you Eurozone Tuning!!
I just completed the install of the retro unit to replace my MIB1 unit, my display, and to update to a USB plug under the display. Overall, as a novice, I was able to easily and successfully replace and update the unit. Once everything was installed, the display worked as advertised. No issues with the rear camera as others had mentioned. When the package arrived (about a month after purchase), it was packed very well and included instructions. As others had mentioned, more details would have been nice to have regarding how the USB cables should be wired from the center console to the glove box. I agree that that was the most difficult part of the install. I plan to include my pictures on the forum page to help others. My Fender audio did not work (known workaround included on Forum) and so I followed the instructions that I printed from the Forum website. I bought the OBDeleven Pro Unit (a bluetooth VCDS that connects to my iphone) to get the audio to work. The only hiccup in that process was that I didn’t have Module 47 listed on the VCDS. The solution was to go to 19 Gateway -> Adaptations -> Installation list, specified installations -> Sound System -> change from “not coded” to “coded” in the VCDS. Then, I went into Module 47 (Sound System) and changed the long coding as stated in the Forum instructions. Restarted car. Worked great! One other note is that the MIB2 unit is a WIRED carplay unit, not wireless. To get a wireless unit, I bought the Carlinkit 3.0 Wireless Carplay adapter.
Upgraded from a 2015 MIB1 to the MIB2 with CarPlay. Love it! What an improvement from my 5.8" screen. The system is faster and CarPlay is such a great upgrade. Installation was relatively painless. The worst part was fishing the new USB wiring from the console to the Infotainment bay. Instructions were well written. Had the old system out and the new installed in less than 45 mins (most of the time fishing the wiring). I did have some coding changes in VCDS for my Fender audio, but even that was minor.
Great upgrade to consider if you love your VW and plan on keeping it! I happen to have a 2015 VW Golf SportWagen TDI SEL with only 40K miles on it. This upgrade just sealed me driving it into the ground.
Purchased the MIB2 retrofit for a 2015 MK7. Everything was pretty straightforward and easy other than replacing the old iPhone 30 pin connector with a USB port.
You have to fish the cable from the cubby to the glove box brain and depending on your experience level, that might be a lot.
I ended up taking my car to Car Toys and paid 30 minutes of labor for them to run the cable.
Other than that, everything worked great and was just following the provided instructions.
Great product and experience. The infotainment was the only downside to my 2015 GTI and this was exactly what I'd been looking for. Carplay and a more modern infotainment is such an awesome upgrade. Had troubles with install, Bill was answering my emails within minutes, absolutely outstanding customer service. Took me about 45 minutes to an hour to do the initial upgrade, and a few days of exchanging emails to figure out what I had done wrong.
Some tips and tricks from my experience:
- When prying trim off, more force than you might think could be required. Same with removing keys from MIB1 / screen.
- When routing cables from glovebox to center console, I struggled for 20 minutes trying to start in the center console. I was able to get the cable routed within 10 minutes of starting on glovebox side. Put the two connectors that need to go through together, push them into the cable routing channel on the glove box side and then use the stiffness of the larger cable to push them through far enough to grab from the center console side with some digging around.
- When reconnecting your old / new unit, just because a cable isn't mentioned in the guide doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I'm sure Bill may update this, but the gray cable goes into the gray slot and isn't called out in the manual (probably because the colors line up). I thought this was the fender audio cable, and as such completely missed the (now unconnected) cable that was in the back. This held me back from getting into the module to make the required coding changes, the car didn't see the audio system for obvious reasons.
- At time of writing, I was able to successfully use OBD eleven to make the required coding change (April 18 2022).
Super excited to have this in my car. Thanks EZT!
Took me longer to install than I expected - mostly because of the difficulty of routing the wiring for the Apple/Android Auto USB port, which was a hassle. Otherwise, everything worked as expected and I love the functionality. I still have one minor outstanding issue that I am troubleshooting (my vehicle settings no longer work) but I am reasonably confident I can fix that and I am very pleased with the product overall.
This was the best internet purchase I have ever experienced!
I asked several questions about the system prior to purchase. Each time Bill replied with very thorough answers within less than 2 hours! And each time this was on weekend evenings!
During the installation,, I had a questition about one of the connectors. I emailed Bill and had the answer in 17 minutes!
This is INCREDIBLE service.
The system is everything I expected....expensive but worth every penny.
